In 2005, HCP designed a new space for Rachna School to house their library. The building is located adjacent to the play field, which was seen as an opportunity to extend this openness and create an open gathering space on the lower floor of the library. The open staircase is an important feature, designed to indicate that the primary program is on the upper floor.
The design of the library itself is governed by the need for glare-free indirect light. Thus, all the voids are carefully articulated- skylights have been introduced, the entire north wall is glazed, the southern side has deeply recessed slit openings and the east and west facades have no openings.
